After growing up in the semi-rural, suburban community of Upstate New York, outside of Syracuse, Dr. Wasserman went on to graduate from Emory University, where he met his wife. Following his undergraduate studies, his medical education began at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, where he spent an extra year performing genetic analyses of rare genetic skin conditions. His time in Philadelphia was followed by a surgical internship at Stanford University in California, after which he commenced his dermatology training at the combined residency program at Boston University and Tufts University hospitals.

For most, this would seem enough, but Dr. Wasserman then chose to embark on two additional years of training, the first at Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School in the Department of Dermatology's Laser Center, where he focused his training on the use and development of laser technologies for medical, cosmetic, and pediatric skin conditions with world-famous Drs. Rox Anderson and Mat Avram. His research project during this time centered on exploring the use of existing laser technologies for the removal of red hair, where there are currently no optimal options.

His second fellowship continued his cosmetic training in Birmingham, AL, but also focused on Mohs surgery training. Dr. Wasserman trained with Dr. Gary Monheit, who was one of Dr. Frederic Mohs' earliest pupils. Here, he completed nearly 2,500 cases, with a significant portion of them being complex cases of the face. His fellowship also consisted of one day a week performing surgery strictly on the eyelids at the Callahan Eye Hospital.

Upon his completion of this cross-country training regimen, Dr. Wasserman decided to move his family of five to Naples, FL, in order to be closer to family and away from the winters of Upstate New York. Dr. Wasserman opened his practice, Skin Wellness Physicians, in order to develop a center of skin care that engages patients' emotional, medical, and practical needs in relation to their skin disease or complaints. Thanks to the success and growth his team has had in the community, they have opened a larger, state-of-the-art facility near downtown Naples that, with their additional location in East Naples, services both the Marco Island and Naples communities with a hand-picked, experienced staff.
