Vbeam®
Gentle Pulsed Dye Laser Treatments for Reducing Redness at Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Ft. Myers, and Naples, FL
Vbeam® from the Naples-based Skin Wellness Physicians is an advanced, FDA- cleared, vascular pulsed dye laser (PDL) system that treats a variety of skin imperfections, including vascular lesions. These are common skin imperfections that involve blood vessels. Other forms of skin discoloration, chronic skin conditions, wrinkles, and scars can also adversely affect the tone and texture of your skin. Although skincare products might help somewhat with reducing skin discoloration, these blemishes can be frustrating to treat—and patients are often searching for a faster, more effective method. Happily, Vbeam® represents a better way of targeting discoloration and pigment issues.
Since it is so effective at addressing issues related to the blood vessels, Vbeam® is sometimes referred to as a “vascular laser.” These types of PDL treatments have been used since the 1980s to treat certain types of vascular birthmarks.

What is Vbeam®?
Vbeam® is a laser treatment that has 595nm technology. It gives off an intense but gentle burst of light to the vessels and capillaries in the targeted treatment area. The light passes through the epidermal and dermal layers and is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood vessels—without affecting the surrounding tissues. The light converts to heat in these lesions, damaging them and causing them to break down to flake away or be absorbed into the body.
What is the Vbeam® Procedure Like?
Vbeam® usually only causes very minor discomfort. Instant cooling can be provided to make the procedure more comfortable for the patient. Some patients experience some mild tingling and irritation during the treatment, but the sensation is well-tolerated and over quickly.
Which Conditions Can Vbeam® Address?
Vbeam® is ideal for directly targeting red-colored skin discoloration. The laser can treat a broad range of conditions, such as vascular, pigmented, and certain types of non-pigmented lesions on the face and chest. These include facial and leg vessels, redness, symptoms of rosacea, age spots, superficial pigment discolorations like sunspots and freckles, deep blue veins, wrinkles, stretch marks, symptoms of psoriasis, warts, and the bumps or redness caused by inflammatory acne.
This laser is considered the gold standard for treating vascular lesions such as broken capillaries, rosacea, port wine stains, spider veins, strawberry hemangiomas, and poikiloderma.
Since Vbeam® helps with clearing the dilated blood vessels below the surface of the skin and provides lasting results, it is very effective for rosacea, a common, long-term skin condition that primarily affects the face and causes a flushed or red appearance. Vbeam® can also directly target the inflammation of acne by gradually heating the blood vessels of acne lesions. This system can further treat vascular birthmarks on infants and children.
Who Is a Candidate for Vbeam®?
Patients with multiple skin types can benefit from Vbeam®, but this treatment is not considered suitable for pregnant women or patients who have taken Accutane within the last six months.
What Can You Expect After Vbeam® in Naples or Marco Island?
One of the advantages of this procedure is that the results from Vbeam® are visible right away after treatment. The skin will look healthier, have less redness and visible blood vessels, be more even in tone, and become firmer in texture—and the effects will continue to improve in the following days and weeks.
The number of and duration of Vbeam® treatments needed will vary from person to person depending on what type of condition they are hoping to address and their skin type. In most cases, at least two to four treatment sessions will be needed to maximize results, and each one will last for a duration of 5 to 30 minutes.
Preparation and aftercare for this procedure are similar. Sun protection, sun avoidance, staying away from activities like heavy exercise that cause skin to be heated, and avoiding harsh scrubbing or exfoliation will be important.
Are There Alternatives or Complementary Options for Vbeam®?
Skin Wellness Physicians provides a variety of other laser and light-based treatments for patients who want to enhance their skin, including intense pulsed light (IPL), photodynamic therapy, fractional laser, Moxi®, and laser skin resurfacing. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvederm® and Restylane® along with biostimulatory Sculptra® fillers can help to reduce static wrinkles that are associated with collagen loss.
