Spread the Word on Dysport®

At Skin Wellness Physicians, we want patients to be equipped with the knowledge they need about cosmetic treatments in order to make an informed decision, but we also want them to feel secure in the fact that we will help them apply that knowledge with experienced guidance. In other words, if you are wondering which wrinkle-relaxing treatment would be best for you—BOTOX® or Dysport®—our Florida-based injectors will explain the difference, but will also work closely with you to determine the ideal strategy for getting the results you want.

BOTOX® and Dysport® are both injectables known as neuromodulators, known for their ability to temporarily keep specific muscles from contracting. When injected into key areas around the forehead, for example, they can stop frown lines from appearing between the eyebrows—even if a patient is scowling or squinting.

In terms of similarities, BOTOX® and Dysport® share the same active ingredient, which is made by a naturally occurring bacteria. Botulinum toxin is a powerful chemical, but can be purified and used in very beneficial ways. Both BOTOX® and Dysport® have medical applications beyond their cosmetic uses, helping patients to reduce muscle spasticity and improve their quality of life.

Both neuromodulators are also administered the same way, as well as have a similar onset of a couple days. The effects can be expected to last for three or four months, after which a patient can return to Skin Wellness Physicians for more injections of their neuromodulator of choice.

Dysport®, however, is set apart by its tendency to “spread” a bit more than its counterpart. That means BOTOX® may be more ideal for smaller, more focused areas that have wrinkles or fine lines, while Dysport® can better handle larger areas, such as the entire forehead. Either way, the goal is to provide a smoother surface that appears natural.

The Skin Wellness Physicians team is thoroughly trained and highly experienced in administering both neuromodulators—and has worked with an extremely wide variety of patients who come in with diverse needs and goals.
